Metal Bondage
Definition
Handcuffs are restraint devices
designed to secure an individual's wrists close together. They comprise two
halves, linked together by a chain or hinge. Each half has a rotating part which
engages with a ratchet which is closed around a person's wrist. Without the key,
the person cannot move their wrists more than a few inches (centimeters) apart,
making many tasks difficult or impossible.
Manacle - A device for confining
the hands, usually consisting of a set of two metal rings that are fastened
about the wrists and joined by a metal chain.
Shackles - Fetters, shackles
or leg irons are a kind of physical restraint used on the feet or ankles.
The term "fetter" shares a root with the word "foot".
