BDSM Breast Trauma Results in Breast Cancer Jan 08 2010 PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT A DOCTOR IF YOU HAVE BREAST LUMPS PLEASE SEE YOUR FAMILY DOCTOR
The first time I had heard this was from a reader of my journal back when I posted pictures. She emailed me with this long lecture about how stupid I was for all I was doing
was increasing my risk of breast cancer. I did research found it untrue and went on.
Years later it has resurfaced again so it is time to dispell this myth.(I had four sites but I can't find the link to the other two.)
The following sites have this warning on them
Dom Sub Infor
States: Serious problems, ranging from fibroadenoma to breast cancer, are very real issues when it comes to playing fast and rough with breasts. Any damage to the inner workings of a breast places the woman at risk. Skin is made to take certain amount of abuse, and nipples and areola are made, within reason, for even more, particularly in a rug rat biting and sucking on them until they're numb sort of way, but, you do not want to do anything that will bruise, cut, pierce or otherwise cause damage below skin level!
WikiAfter Dark(Wiki is NOT a valid source of information for it is driven by readers NOT by scholars)
States: Complications from unsafe tit torture can include infection, disease transmission, external scarring, fat necrosis, fibroadenoma, and breast cancer (interesting to note that Wiki also includes a link to verify their information, yet the link clearly states over and over again that all it does is mimic breast cancer)
So what does this mean?
Breast Cancer is: A malignant growth that begins in the tissues of the breast it is a disease in which abnormal cells in the breast divide and multiply in an uncontrolled fashion. The cells can invade nearby tissue and can spread through the bloodstream and lymphatic system (lymph nodes) to other parts of the body.
How does this relate to BDSM Breast Torture?
When ANY trauma of the breast occurs, as with other fatty body parts, Fat Necrosis can occur. This is a destruction of fat cells. I'm sure you have noticed a day or two after an intense scene, that your breast feel *lumpy*, and that these lumps usually disappear after time. Perfectly normal in a breast that has just been severly beaten or bound. The problem arises when these lumps DO NOT disappear. For they can and do MIMIC breast cancer.
MIMIC - not cause. A lump, is a lump, is a lump, and the ONLY one to tell if it is malignant is a Doctor. Breast torture can and has casued these types of lumps but you or I are not qualified to state whether it is cancer or not.
Dr Jack WebMD - "An injury
to the breast does not lead to cancer. Getting hit in the breasts can be painfuls, lead to bruising but does not lead to breast cancer. Similarly, scar tissue that results from an injury to the breast won't cause cancer. In population studies, which look for correlations between environmental or external factors and risk, trauma or injury to the breast is not mentioned as being a risk."
Dr William Gradishar -- "Injury to the breast does not cause breast cancer. In some cases, the breast may become bruised after an injury and, in rare cases, develop a non-cancerous lump called fat necrosis. Fat necrosis is not dangerous, and the symptoms usually subside within a month. If you have a lump in your breast and are concerned that it may be breast cancer, consult with your doctor immediately."
Breast Cancer News -- "Injury or trauma to the breast does not cause breast cancer. However, the breast may become bruised or develop a benign (non-cancerous) lump as the result of an injury. Fat necrosis is a rare benign breast condition that occurs when fatty breast tissue swells or becomes tender. When the body attempts to repair the damaged breast tissue, the affected area may sometimes be replaced with firm scar tissue. Fat necrosis may be mistaken as cancer on mammogram; however symptoms of fat necrosis usually subside within a month.""
Women's Health Care -- "Sometimes trauma to the breast may result in detection of breast cancer, but this is not due to the injury. Rather it is because the breast is being examined and followed more closely than usual."
I am going to elaborate on this last fact by stating my own opinion on this. As a chronically ill person and as a slave whoms Master enjoys intense breast play. I KNOW we pay more attention to my breast then most vanilla people. At least once a day master is touching, squeezing, or pinching them and in the process He is also checking them. Due to the intensity of our lifestyle I too touch my breast quite often, usually in comfort in "ohh rub it it hurts" type touch and of course in doing so, one is always feeling for abnormalities.
I am going to include one last link here that states Susan G Komen For The Cure -- "To date, there is no evidence to support a link between trauma or injury to the breast and risk of breast cancer. "
I need to stop somewhere for I can go on and on and on with reputable doctors and organizations that state there is NO evidence to support trauma and breast cancer. Any link between breast cancer and trauma is purely conincidental.
And to those sites and individuals that continue to spread this myth -- either supply supporting data from reputable sites or doctors to support your statement -- or shut the hell up. We have enough to worry about without having you spread these lies.
